Tomorrow (Sunday 8/2) is ICE CREAM HOAGIE DAY! We thought we’d elevate a Philly classic sandwich by adding ice cream in celebration of National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. Our kitchen manager & bread enthusiast, Justin, is baking fresh sweet buttery rolls early tomorrow morning. Ordering will begin tomorrow at noon either in person or online (for contactless ordering) until we run out. You’ll get your choice of 2 scoops of ice cream, homemade spreads, & toppings - and there are lots to choose from! We’ll be spreading on Homemade Fluff, tart Cherry sauce, or Peach Butter; and topping the hoagies with Balsamic Berry compote, Cocoa Cookie crumble, or Pecan Praline. As you may remember back in the Fall we joined forces with @lilpopshop in Rittenhouse. We were excited to begin pie season a la mode with scoops of ice cream to pair with their pies. They also became a destination to find our pints and ice cream sandwiches in Center City! Since May we have been carrying their incredible pops at our scoop shop, and we couldn’t be happier. They have been such a lovely addition to our Summer menu to help you cool off. Jeanne Chang, the creative mind behind Lil’ Pop Shop, started making popsicles for her family as an ode to her favorite treat. She grew up in California where they are abundant. One of her earliest memories were neon banana popsicles at school during snack time. She’s come a far way from 80’s and 90’s favorites like “purple flavor” or rootbeer, now creating new flavors based on the season. Much like ourselves, she and her team source local ingredients like seasonal fruit and dairy. Jeanne is super excited for peach, melon, & corn season, so stay tuned for those flavors to POP up in our shop this August! Lil’ Pop Shop is also one of our team members for Joy Box, which is LIVE and taking orders for next week. Our guest vendor is Mighty Bread, Co, who are offering some tasty sweet and savory treats this week. For those of you planning on a trip down the shore soon, we offer extra dry ice & insulation so you can transport all your favorite treats.
Hello from the other side of the plexiglass! Here at our scoop shop in Fishtown we’re learning to adapt to the new normal but still being mindful of taking care of one another. Thanks to you, our incredible customers, our take out window is open & we're still scooping. What has changed for us? Our shop staff is now a smaller team of 5, with only 2-3 staff per shift. Making sure we can each take breaks and have days off while adjusting to these big changes. On our end, we’re ensuring that you’re safe as well! We’ve increased our sanitizing practices, our team always wears masks in the shop, and the register station is sanitized between each guest. It’s perfect ice cream weather, and we very much appreciate everyone waiting in line at a safe distance in the Summer heat. Enjoying take out or a treat outside of your home definitely has new meaning in this time of COVID. We want you to know how much we appreciate you journeying out to our little spot for some comfort and joy. Please remember that our shop & creamery teams are working hard to make it possible, and keeping them safe is important as well. Tony, our shop manager, says it best - “Respecting face covering rules supports your local businesses, one positive test can shut down your favorite places. A simple sacrifice goes a long way.” We don’t want anything to get in the way of you and your ice cream, so let's stay safe and continue to care for one another.
It’s a Hoagie! It’s a Sundae! This Sunday, August 2nd, celebrate National Ice Cream Sandwich day with our very first Ice Cream Hoagie! Lettuce, tomato, onions, and deli meat have been jettisoned in favor of two scoops of ice cream, a variety of seasonal handmade sundae toppings, cherry sauce, and a smear of marshmallow fluff. Our kitchen manager, Justin is even baking the subtly sweet milk bread rolls fresh that morning. How to order : You will be able to place your order on our website during shop hours, or choose your toppings from a menu at the take out window. Each hoagie is made to order & packaged to go. We’ll even have a bag of waffle cone chips for you!
It was only a matter of time before we felt the urge to turn the BFG scoop into its own ice cream sandwich. Just look at those layers! Between two soft chewy chocolate cookies is Milk Chocolate ice cream, local cherries, chunks of Black Forest Gateau (cake), swirls of handmade Marshmallow Fluff, AND dark chocolate chunks. It’s basically an ice cream & cake sandwich, so it’s pretty much the best thing ever… Arriving at the shop tomorrow!
NEXT SUNDAY (8/2, not tomorrow) is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, but for us everyday is Ice Cream Sandwich Day. So, we figured, “Why not reinvent a Philly Favorite?” and we’re doing just that. We’ll be making an Ice Cream Hoagies fit for a Philadelphian! We’ll have lots of homemade toppings to choose from, complete with an order form (sorry no touch screen). All Hoagie orders will be available during shop hours on 8/2 and custom made to order. Take out only. Get excited.

BFG is a magical chocolate & cherry experience inspired by Black Forest Gateau (aka cake). It’s a true team effort that started at the scoop shop with a suggestion from Meg, that filted through Kitchen Manager Justin and then became a reality thank to the talents of the entire production team. Making BFG is no simple task. First there is the Milk Chocolate ice cream base, a 3:2 mixture of our chocolate ice cream and sweet cream ice cream. The Black Forest Cake itself is an incredibly moist Chocolate Cake layered with Swiss Meringue frosting and Cherry Compote (made with fresh local sour cherries). The cake is then chopped up and scattered into the milk chocolate ice cream along with shaved 72% fair-trade dark chocolate. Apparently y’all are some serious chocolate cherry lovers, since you voted this your favorite scoop of 2025! 🍫 🍒
